Modular Collection Part 101-301-801 – 31" Slatted Headboards (2)

This headboard, Modular Collection Part 101-301-801, comes as a set of two. We also call it a bed end throughout our site. Slat is our open-bar bed end style, with narrow slats -- seven on a Twin.

At 31 inches, this is our Low height bed end, and it's a core item in this collection. We use it as the upper headboard on every loft and bunk bed, and on all of our daybeds. This height comes in three sizes: 101 for Twin, 301 for Full, and 801 for Queen -- the only bed end style available in Queen.

You'll find Modular Collection Part 101-301-801 on our 1000, our 2000, and our 3000 XL.

Modular Collection Part 101-301-801 is available in White or Natural. You can swap it with Panel or Modern on any bed of the same height and size. Panel is the one style that doesn't come in Queen; Slat and Modern both do.

You can only use this part with our Modular Collection, or the wider Maxtrix system it's built on. If you want the Slat style for your bed, this is the bed end you'd need.

The Design

We offer several collections of beds and bunk beds, each with its own style, materials, and construction. This Collection stands apart by using interchangeable parts rather than fixed furniture designs. A modular approach gives you greater flexibility both when you purchase your furniture and years later as your needs change.

The collection works much like LEGO building blocks. A small set of interchangeable parts allows you to create hundreds of configurations for beds, loft beds, and bunk beds. You can select any layout when you buy and later expand, convert, or reconfigure many products as your family and lifestyle change.

Materials & Finishes

Every structural part in this collection starts as premium solid hardwood. Each piece is knot-free and free of finger joints, for exceptional strength, durability, and appearance. Depending on the production run, the factory uses birch, maple, or aspen, always built to the same engineering and quality standards. Selected non-structural parts use engineered wood or wood veneer where they improve stability, consistency, or performance.

Finish quality matters just as much as the wood underneath it. These durable, low-VOC finishes create a healthier home environment and meet California's strict environmental standards. White furniture uses a durable painted finish for a clean, modern appearance. Our Natural finish uses a clear lacquer that highlights the beauty of the wood. Because wood is a natural material, products with a Natural finish may vary slightly in grain pattern and colour.

Understanding the Parts System

Every product in this collection combines individual parts that fit together to create a complete piece of furniture. Some parts appear in many different furniture configurations, while others are found only in one or two specific products.

Unlike our other furniture collections, many of these parts are also sold individually. This lets you build a new furniture configuration, replace a damaged part, or convert your existing furniture into another compatible design without buying an entirely new item.

Some parts combine several individual pieces in one box. We sell these parts as complete units and do not separate them into smaller individual pieces.

To identify a particular part, start with the complete furniture product. Open the Shipping Box Dimensions tab to view the list of shipping boxes. Each Box ID matches one Modular Collection part. Search our website using the corresponding MX Product ID to locate that item.

Hardware & Assembly

Hardware varies by part. Some parts include it, others require reusing hardware from your existing furniture or purchasing it separately, and some packages include extra hardware because different configurations use different fasteners.

Assembly instructions for this collection describe the building system itself, not one finished product. Instead of showing only one furniture configuration, they explain how individual parts fit together to create many different beds, loft beds, bunk beds, and other furniture. The first assembly may seem challenging, but it gets much easier once you understand how the system works.

Most parts that need an Allen key include one in the box. You will also need a Phillips screwdriver and a flat-head screwdriver. Power tools aren't required. For larger furniture assemblies, we recommend that two adults complete the installation.
