Duncan bunk bed is part of our Vanisla Collection. The name is from a small town on the southeast coast of Vancouver Island.

Price includes a bunk bed frame which ladder is part of, two under bed drawers and bedside tray.

Also you can buy two 6" high density foam mattresses from our Italian collection, or Memory foam mattresses.

Made of solid rubberwood. Rubberwood is from a rubber tree, native to southeast Asia. It is considered hardwood and sustainable.
Duncan bunk stands at an ideal height of 70”. Standard ceiling is 96” so you have plenty of space on the top bunk and reasonable clearance on the lower bunk. The design of this bunk is such that the upper bunk has high guard rails.

This bunk divides into individual beds. When you separate the bunk, the upper bunk becomes a daybed, and the lower bunk stays as a separate bed. Both beds will have equal height head and footboards. After you separate the bunk, two beds will not look identical.

Usage

Duncan bunk bed is perfect for any age. Kids, teens, or adults all can use this bunk without a problem. This is because it can hold 220 lbs of weight on the upper bunk. We tested it in our store, two of us climbed the bunk and sat on top w/o any issues or hearing any noise.

There are 4 metal pings between upper and lower bunk. You do not see them, they are inside the wood and about 3” in length.

Duncan bunk bed uses a vertical ladder which is harder to climb, but easier to access under the bunk and ladder doesn’t intrude into your room. You can install the ladder only on the right side.

Assembly

Assembly of Duncan bunk is fairly simple because all 4 headboards, upper guardrails, and ladder are assembled. You need to connect mattress rails, and screw in guardrails, ladder, and slats.

Slats are made of solid wood as well. They are layers of glued wood, as in plywood, for extra strength. You may see some puddy here and there which is normal.

Mattress

Standard single, or twin, size mattress fits this bunk bed just fine. Upper bunk uses high guardrails. If you use a mattress with 6” of thickness for the upper bunk, you will have plenty of depth. This is important for some parents as they wish to have an extra safety barrier. For the lower part of this bunk, we also recommend only a 6” thick mattress.
