Platform beds require no box spring. Regular, or traditional, bed frames all use a box spring which supports the mattress. Back in the day, box springs were just that: a box full of springs! That was to give extra cushioning to the mattress which was also full of springs. Nowadays, however, boxsprings are mostly empty. In fact, some manufacturers have renamed the boxspring, calling it a foundation.
At Bunk Beds Canada, all of our beds come with wooden slats that act as a platform to eliminate the need for a box spring. It also opens up valuable space under your bed. Depending on the model, slats are 2.5 to 3.5” apart which is a good distance to allow your mattress to breathe. You can also add more slats.
All of our platform beds are made of solid wood like Pine or solid hardwood like Rubberwood, Birch or Maple. We use knot-free wood for maximum strength. Bed frames are usually not rated for weight capacity, but we use the same rails as our bunk beds which are rated from 220 lb to 400 lb depending on the collection.
All our platform beds will fit Canadian standard size mattresses. We also offer extra long twin and full-size platform beds. These sizes are becoming very popular with teens and taller adults.
We have three collections to choose from. Our Vanisla collection is our value collection. Limited in choices, but instead they are great prices for a lot of timber. They are also in stock and ship from BC within a few days.
Another collection is Cottage Collection. Made in Canada and 400 lb weight rating, available in every possible size. You do not go wrong with this series.
And of course our Modular collection. Possibilities are endless.
